Adding Colour To Vintage Photographs and Postcards

colour, paper, artI AM AComment

Postcards and photographs always capture memorable times. Especially vintage ones, through time, it adds extra nostalgia. Meet modern embroidery artist Francesca Colussi Cramer, where she would embroider colourful cross stitches to enhance found vintage ephemera, from photographs and including postcards. Not only does the cross stitching add a very modern vibe to it, the stitching and the colours further enhances the depth of the postcard and tells a more rich story.

The vintage photographs and postcards include themes of a wedding, countryside landscapes and portraits.

P.S. We love the details of Francesca’s work, not only the front is beautiful, the back where you can see all the stitches and the thread are sew cool!

Nelson Mandela As An Artist

artI AM AComment

Today marks the 100th birthday of Nelson Mandela! To mark this occasion, WeTransfer has curated an exclusive online exhibition together with the House of Mandela to showcase many of the unseen illustrations that were drawn by Nelson Mandela.

The artwork is thought provoking, especially to see the creative side from a politician. Our favourites are the charcoal illustrations from the Nguni Bull that represents strength, to the dove, that represents freedom. As Mandela once said "It always seems impossible until it's done."

Receipt Art For Real

artI AM AComment

It is possible to find art on receipt, especially on Italian's artist Michael Moccia's instagram account. From the wood block print "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" of Japanese artist Hokusai, to Van Gogh's Starry Sky, Gustav Klimt's The Kiss, Edvard Munch's The Scream, these classic artworks have been recreated and illustrated on the humble receipt. Receipts are never the same again. Ceci n'est pas une peinture.
