London Underground Patterns

designI AM AComment

With our frequent commute on the London Underground, with the hustle and bustle we sometimes forget to take stock of the beautiful patterns and illustrations that could be found decorating the walls of the London tube stations. Thank you to instagram account Tube Patterns that have documented the graphical commute.

The below set of tile graphics include patterns from stations including Paddington, Tottenham Court Road, Euston Station, Highbury and Islington and Oxford Circus. Choo choo!

Hooray! Our London Underground Pencils are featured in the March 2017 issue of Living Etc Magazine in an article about the latest news, updates about London.

Absolutely giggled through the write up about our pencils, in the article titled "Write On" - Pencil snapping as an alternative therapy - definite food for thought.

Talking about food, this month's Living Etc also contains some super delish recipes from one of our favorite food stylist / chef in Australia, Donna Hay's quick pasta recipes. Definitely trying some of the recipes out this week, supermarket shopping planned. Yum!

It was a lovely to have great natural light at our "How're you feeling?" Pop Up Shop in Clerkenwell this week. Found some time in between running the shop to style the photo during our pop up, cutting some paper confetti from pastel sheets of colour…

It was a lovely to have great natural light at our "How're you feeling?" Pop Up Shop in Clerkenwell this week. Found some time in between running the shop to style the photo during our pop up, cutting some paper confetti from pastel sheets of coloured paper and overlapping the magazines. Bliss! ☺️✂️🎉📷

Choo choo! Our London Underground pencils have been awarded a royalty license registration number by the Transport of London. Hence, the pencils are a licensed product by Transport of London.

In terms of design, we are allowed to include the iconic Underground Roundel logo, and use the specific New Johnston font that is used specifically for London Underground onto our pencils and packaging.

Moving forward, all the new packaging of the London Underground pencils will contain the registration number. Our awarded number is Transport for London Registered User No. 15/5062.

Thank you to the Commercial Licensing team of the Transport of London for guiding us through the royalties process. Yay!

As part our product descriptions, we include a section called "Designer's Random Facts" to detail our inspiration / reason behind our creations.

Traveling is one our favourite past times, (especially via public transport). For our London Underground Pencils, we have picked 6 of our most frequented London Underground stations. Based on the London Tube map concept, we have created an animated gif to showcase some of our favourite hangouts in London, easily accessible for tube, especially for an unplanned weekend.

  • Columbia Flower Market on Sunday  - ( Orange Overground Line )
  • Camden Town Canal Walk to Little Venice - ( Black Northern Line )
  • Visit the Shard - ( Silver Jubilee Line / Black Northern Line )
  • Head to Smack Deli for a Lobster Roll - ( Red Central Line / Silver Jubilee Line )
  • Refill at Poîlane for a coffee + a tartine - ( Yellow / Green Circle and District Line  )
  • Cartoon Museum for some comic love - ( Blue Piccadilly / Red Central Line )

P.S. Mind the foiling. Our pencils have the colour of the tube lines and the colour of the interchanges all covered.
